Jonathan Canlas & Carmencita Film Lab in Berlin!

I was CRAZY lucky to attend the last workshop with Jonathan Canlas, the father of FILM IS NOT DEAD! If you don't know what FIND is it is an amazing community that Jon created to support, educate and inspire film photographers across the globe. In Jon's own words FIND is a community, a family, a belief, a journey centered around FINDing your unique voice through exploration of film photography... it's film photography heaven!

I flew to Berlin on the 7th of February to meet the man himself! Jonathan teamed up with the Carmencita Film Lab (Albert, Buenaventura, Laura - what an amazing people!) and we have spent an entire day chatting, shooting, laughing and learning!

I thought one day was not enough to cover everything there is to know about shooting on film. Scrupulously I have made a list of endless questions and planned to bombard Joanthan with them till he drops! There was truly no need for this! Jon covered everything and more! After full day with Jon and the Carmencita Team my head was spinning but on my way back home to Ibiza it all kind of clicked! It was pure positive energy!

Jonathan makes everyone feel so relaxed, special and unique. He is the most humble, easy going and honest guy on the planet! You just have to LOVE him! There is no other way. You meet Jonathan Canlas and you instantly love him and want to hug him... it's called being Canlasised...

The way he speaks, the passion that beams from every word he says, that crazy smile, the way he expresses himself, it's simply contagious!!! Or should I say it's totally BANANAS

After tons and tons of theory we shot 2 couples outside... In -4 degrees, no gloves, steaming Contax eyepieces and frozen shutters! It was NUTS!

We all shot Kodak Portra 400 pushed 2 stops and Portra 160 pushed 2 stops.. I kind of loaded Kodak TMY-2 400 (B&W) thinking it's Portra 400 and shot it as Portra, but thanks to Buenaventura @ Carmencita Film Lab the photos turned out pretty awesome. I really like the moodiness of Berlin and B&W grain.
